PhD & Postdoc
Brendan O'Sullivan
Biopharmaceutics · University College Dublin
Brendan O'Sullivan is a PhD candidate in Biopharmaceutics at University College Dublin, supervised by Prof. Anne Moore. His thesis develops mucoadhesive chitosan-PLGA nanoparticle formulations for intranasal delivery of respiratory syncytial virus subunit vaccines, demonstrating systemic and mucosal IgG and IgA responses in murine and ferret challenge models comparable to intramuscular administration. Nine publications in the European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics and Vaccine document his formulation development and immunogenicity data. Brendan received an SFI Pathways postdoctoral fellowship offer and collaborated with Pfizer's biopharmaceutical sciences group in Ringaskiddy. He has been offered a formulation scientist position at a nasal vaccine company in Dublin. His nanoparticle vaccine candidates show 90-percent protection against RSV challenge in ferret models.
