Isabella Lima

Marine Biology · UNICAMP

Isabella Lima is a PhD candidate in Marine Biology at UNICAMP, supervised by Prof. Alexander Turra. Her thesis quantifies microplastic ingestion rates and immune suppression effects in coral reef fish communities along the Sao Paulo coast, combining field sampling, histopathology and biomarker assays to establish dose-response relationships relevant to fisheries management. Five publications in Marine Pollution Bulletin and Aquatic Toxicology document her findings. Isabella participated in a CAPES-funded research exchange at Plymouth Marine Laboratory and has contributed expert testimony to a Brazilian Ministry of Environment working group on marine plastics policy. She has received a fellowship offer from the UN Environment Programme Ocean Action team and has been invited to join a global fisheries microplastic monitoring consortium.
