Yara Al-Farsi
Water Resources Engineering · Sultan Qaboos University
Yara Al-Farsi is a PhD candidate in Water Resources Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University, supervised by Prof. Ali Al-Maktoumi. Her thesis assesses the hydrological feasibility and geochemical risks of managed aquifer recharge in coastal alluvial fans of the Batinah plain, Oman, combining tracer experiments, variably-saturated flow modelling and geochemical equilibrium analysis to design operationally safe injection schemes. Seven publications in Hydrogeology Journal and Journal of Hydrology document her field investigations and modelling outputs. Yara received a Sultan Qaboos Research Council award and presented her aquifer recharge findings to Oman's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. She has been recruited by ARCADIS to lead a water security project in the GCC region. Her managed recharge schemes have demonstrated 65-percent recovery efficiency in the Batinah pilot wells.
