Wanjiru Kamau is a leading African epidemiologist whose research focuses on the transmission dynamics of infectious disease in high-burden sub-Saharan settings, with emphasis on malaria, TB co-infection, and emerging arboviruses. Her spatial modelling during the 2014–2016 Rift Valley fever outbreak became a template for WHO response frameworks. She established the Pan-African Genomic Surveillance Network and won the L'Oréal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science.
