Bandung Institute of Technology (Institut Teknologi Bandung, ITB) is Indonesia premier engineering and technology university, formally established on 2 March 1959, though its origins trace to the Dutch colonial-era Technische Hoogeschool te Bandoeng founded in 1920 — making it one of the oldest technical institutions in Southeast Asia. ITB is consistently ranked among the top 300 universities in Asia for engineering and technology disciplines. The university operates 12 faculties and schools encompassing 128 study programmes, 111 active research groups, 25 centres of excellence, and 7 dedicated research institutes. ITB Centre for Research and Community Service is internationally recognised for work in mining and petroleum engineering, earthquake engineering, and telecommunications.
